Read the captivating story of one of our donors Thoughtfully Handmade!

Hi, my name is Yandy and I am the 18-year-old owner of Thoughtfully Handmade! I am so, so happy to be partnering with Seniors With Skills!

Since 2016, I’ve strived to provide unique, personalized greeting cards and bookmarks that are adjustable, affordable and adorable.

I chose to start my own business because I was (and still am) sick and tired of the impersonal, mass-produced cards in the market today, among 5 other reasons.

Whenever I’ve received one of those cards, I’ve felt like no effort was put in by the giver. Even if they took an hour to choose the perfect one, it still felt like they left it to the last minute.

Do you feel the same?

If so, the solution is simple. Don’t buy from them!

How does that help?

Well, all of my products are made by hand, by me. Hours of hard work are put into each and single card and bookmark. Do you honestly believe cards from Hallmark or Dollarama took that much time and effort to make?

By buying one of my cards, not only are you supporting a small business and a crafter, but you are also supporting Seniors With Skills.

Give us some support by following me on Instagram (@thoughtfullyhandmade) and Seniors With Skills (@seniorswithskills) if you haven’t done so already.

But that’s not all! I am also dedicated to spreading positivity, which is why I’ve decided to team up with Seniors With Skills.

Ten cents from every card and bookmark that I sell will be going towards their operational costs. Running a non-profit takes a lot of resources and I want to help my community in any way that I can- especially one that helps seniors use their skills for the greater good.

Spreading positivity is another reason Thoughtfully Handmade exists. What better way to spread positivity than with cards? I mean, you don’t give someone a card for a negative reason, right?

Of course not! You give a card to wish someone a ‘happy birthday’, to show your gratitude or to congratulate someone.

Help me spread positivity by buying a card on our website today or in person at a market we’re selling at (our next one is on August 25 at the Distillery District Market).

Here are some of my favourite creations to give you a glimpse of my work!

This one is called ‘A Hepburn Wish’ because it had all of Audrey Hepburn’s elegance and the vintage flair of the 50’s.

This one is on the opposite spectrum as it reminds me of the Age of Exploration of the 1500’s.

Of course, I have to show off some of my bookmarks!

I also design custom cards and invitations if you ever need some of those! Recently, I did a custom thank you card for a baby shower.

If you want to keep up with me and be in the know at all times, join the club and sign up for my email newsletter! I share sales and content that my Instagram followers don’t get to see.

I’m going to end this by saying (well, writing) a huge ‘Thank you!’ to Jaya and her amazing team at Seniors With Skills for giving me this opportunity to give back and I look forward to running a card and knitting program at a retirement centre!
